rice krispie treats

Ingredients
1/4 cup margarine or butter
4 cups miniature marshmallows or about 40 regular marshmallows
5 cups kellogg’s Rice Krispies

Directions
1.Place a small lump of margarine into a paper towel and use to grease a 13 x 9 x 2 inch pan, then wipe the pan off with a dry paper towel. This will keep the bars from sticking to the pan when they are placed on it.
2.Measure margarine into saucepan; melt over low heat. Add marshmallows and cook, stirring constantly, until marshmallows are melted and mixture is very syrupy. Remove from heat.
3.Add Rice Krispies cereal; stir until well-coated.
4.Spread warm mixture in the greased 13 x 9 x 2 inch pan. Using waxed paper or buttered spatula press firmly into an even layer. (I normally use a butter knife to do this; dipping the knife into a glass of water occasionally will keep the Rice Krispies from sticking to it as you shove them into the pan)
5.Cut into squares when cool. (This is normally about 10 minutes after placing the mixture into the pan.)

really good chocolate chip cookies

Ingredients
3/4 cup butter, softened
1 1/2 cups brown sugar, lightly packed
3/4 cup sugar
3 eggs
3 tablespoons light corn syrup
3 tablespoons water
3 teaspoons vanilla
3 3/4 cups flour, unsifted
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
3/4 teaspoon salt
3 cups chocolate chips, semi-sweet
Directions
1.Preheat the oven to 350°F and place baking rack in middle of oven.
2.In a large bowl combine flour, baking soda and salt; set aside.
3.In a seperate bowl cream the margarine and butter flavored shortening.
4.Add the sugars and beat until creamy.
5.Add the eggs to incorporate.
6.Add the corn syrup, water and vanilla extract, mix well.
7.Gradually blend in the flour mixture to the creamed mixture and mix well.
8.Stir in the chocolate chips; make sure they are evenly distributed.
9.Drop by teaspoonfuls onto an ungreased cookie sheet, about 1 inch apart and bake until the cookies are slightly underdone, between 10-12 minutes (maybe longer, depending on your oven’s calibration).
10.The centers should be just set and a light golden brown. They will continue to cook, from the heat in the cookie sheet, after they are removed from the oven.
11.Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto cookie sheet.
12.Allow to cool on cookie sheet for 1 minute before removing to cooling racks until they are completely cooled. Enjoy!

last day of school

I can’t believe it! the last day of school is in like 21 days! also, i’m going to….. MIDDLE SCHOOL!!!!! there are so many great things in middle school, like lockers, independence, no bus lines, the corner, more school activities (watching movies and going to springs brook park), different teachers, better lunches, stuff like that. there are a couple bad things too, like detention and no recess. whatever, i can’t wait!!!
